About Us
Dr. Peter M. Schissler
Dr. Schissler was born and raised in New York City. He earned a BS degree from CCNY, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his MD degree from the N.Y.U. School of Medicine. He was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1980 following residency at George Washington University Hospital. He has been in practice at this same office location since 1981.
He became board certified in Geriatric Medicine in 1988 when this subspecialty was formally recognized, re-certified in 1998 and again in 2008. He has lectured on Geriatric Medicine to physicians, senior groups and radio audiences. He has repeatedly been named as a Washingtonian Top Doctor. He is married, has four children and works hard to stay aerobically fit. He loves geriatric practice, loves to teach and most importantly loves life!

Dr. Stuart J. Turkewitz
Dr. Turkewitz was born in New York. He graduated with a B.A. from Brandeis University, and an M.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed a residency and board certification in Internal Medicine, and been in the practice of Internal Medicine since 1984.
From the beginning of his practice, Dr. Turkewitz has had a special interest in the care of older adults. He became certified in Geriatric Medicine in 1990, was recertified in 2000 and again in November of 2010". He has served as a teacher of residents both in the hospital and office, and as the medical director of a nursing home and rehabilitation center. He has regularly won awards for teaching excellence, and has been named as a top-rated primary care physician by the Washington Consumers checkbook.
Dr. Turkewitz has been married since 1983, and has three children, born in 1986, 1987, and 1989. He is an avid bicyclist and runner, and plays racquetball once a week.

Dr. Stephanie Trifoglio
Dr. Trifoglio was born in Staten Island, N.Y. She received her B.S. degree from Yale University and her M.D. degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency in 1988. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, and in 2004 she re-certified in both specialties.
She served as Chief of Geriatric Medicine at Prince Georges Hospital Center for several years. In 2005 she became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, an honor signifying academic excellence. Dr. Trifoglio speaks regularly to groups of students and senior citizens on topics such as Alzheimer's Disease, Diabetes, and medical careers.
Dr. Trifoglio has been married since 1980. She has two sons, Gabriel born in 1989 and Nicholas born in 1991.
